We are always excited to work with Mourvèdre from Stillwater Creek Vineyard and we have always blended a little Syrah into the final bottling but not since the 2011 vintage have we blended 50/50 with Syrah! Hints of lavender, leather and oak open into flavors ripe, dark fruits, berries and earth. A long, soft finish invites another sip…
The Mourvedre was gently coopered in three year old (neutral) American oak for twenty-one months to maintain as much varietal character as possible while the Syrah was aged in new Hungarian oak for twenty-one months to lend a Smokey, earthy element to the final blend.
